The story so far

Twenty-five years ago I picked up a guitar and never quite put it down.

I trained at BIMM Brighton in partnership with the University of Sussex, then spent the next decade on tour as the guitarist for Fickle Friends — recording at Abbey Road and NRG, contributing to a UK Top 10 album, and playing everywhere from Reading & Leeds to South by Southwest.

Now I teach. Same instrument, different stage. Whether you're seven years in or seven minutes in, the goal is the same — to make playing feel like the most natural thing in the world.

First chord to first gig

If you've never picked one up, we'll start at the very beginning — chords, rhythm, the songs you actually want to play. No grading, no exams. Just music.

Technique & theory

Scales, modes, voicings, fingerstyle, hybrid picking. We'll demystify the bits that look intimidating on paper.

Studio & stage

Mic'ing up, recording at home, playing to clicks, in-ears, stage craft. The professional toolkit, taught by someone who's used it.

Songwriting & arrangement

Turning ideas into songs. Structure, hooks, arrangement choices that make a track land — drawn from a decade of writing for a working band.

I'd been stuck for years. Two lessons in, Chris had me hearing chord shapes I'd been missing the whole time.
