Common questions

The ones I get asked most. If yours isn't here, just ask.

  • I'm a complete beginner — is this for me?
Absolutely. Lessons are tailored to where you’re at. If you’ve never picked up a guitar before, we’ll start with the basics — how to hold it, your first chords, your first riff. No syllabus, no judgement.
  • In person or online — does it matter?
Both work. In person at the Raskelf studio if you want hands-on adjustments and zero latency. Online over video if you’re further afield — sound quality holds up well with a decent mic and connection.
  • What gear do I need?
A working guitar (acoustic or electric, either is fine), a tuner (your phone’s free apps work), and somewhere quiet to focus. For online lessons, headphones help. We’ll talk about gear upgrades down the line if you want — never up front.
  • How does the free intro lesson work?
Mention it in your enquiry. I’ll set it up for your first lesson — twenty minutes, no card, no commitment. We’ll see if we click. If we do, you book your next one normally.
  • What about cancellations?
More than 24 hours notice — no charge, we reschedule. Less than 24 hours — charged in full unless it’s illness or a genuine emergency. The full policy is here.
